What an economy used to be...

Ana Maria and Ana Michelle should be at the Houston airport now, waiting on their 9PM flight to Buenos Aires. Irene took me to her mother-in-law´s place in the country this morning, a Japanese family, growing roses in greenhouses. Greenhouses are everywhere in that area, small family operations. Later, we went to eat with her parents, who live in town, where they run a small photography studio in the front of their home.

Everywhere there are small family businesses, groceries, shops, farms. Rarely do I see anything I recognize as a franchise. It reminds me of what an economy used to be like, and how far down the corporatist road we´ve gone.
