Finally, a look at the character of the La Plata, a city planned in the latter part of the 19th century, with wide, tree lined streets, ample sidewalks, parks and plazas scattered throughout. The architecture is wildly various, with modern 8 story condo blocks amid attractive modern homes and a scattering of order stonework gems of buildings here and there. A gigantic modern brick gothic cathedral towers above a facing statue of Evita in the main square.
